We are blown away by the generous support we received from our local community and others around the world. Our crowdfunding campaign for The Package Free Larder officially ended yesterday at 8pm (13th August 2019), receiving a total of 905 donations in 56 days.
Thanks to your support, we surpassed our original £40,000 target and raised an incredible £43,765. This money will be used to build Portsmouth’s 1st community plastic-free supermarket & zero-waste hub, a project that will help our seaside city reduce its reliance on single-use plastic.
We are thankful for your encouragement and goodwill and for the inspiring messages left on our crowdfunding page (over 430 comments) and on our social media pages. It really boosted our spirits during the campaign and helped us reach out to more people who believed in our project. We’d also like to thank those of you who have personally offered assistance and ideas and for spreading the word far and wide. Our campaign would not have been successful without this support.
During our celebratory committee meeting last night, we outlined the next steps towards opening the shop including the researching of premises, stockists and making all of the exclusive rewards we offered on Crowdfunder. Whilst you may not hear from us as often now that the campaign is over, behind the scenes we are cracking on with the exciting new task of securing and refurbishing a suitable location.
Furthermore, this October we are planning to host a community meet-up to discuss our future and get your feedback. Invitations will be sent out as soon as we have decided on a date and location.
This meet-up will be free to attend, but it is likely that spaces will be limited. To receive updates and ensure you are notified when we announce a date, make sure to join our mailing-list by clicking here.
If you pledged towards a reward when you made your donation, we plan to email you with further details this September. If you have any queries please contact us via firstname.lastname@example.org.
Would you like to get involved?
As a group of volunteers, we’re eager to work with members of the community as much as possible as we work towards building this shop.
If you can volunteer your time or provide support in any way, please do fill in the form here and we will get in touch with you. We are particularly keen to find handy tradespeople to help during our time setting up the shop. If you feel your services would be of use and you’d like to give us some of your time, or know anyone who would, please get in touch.
To support the local economy as much as we can, we are looking to work with local producers and suppliers where possible. If you think your products will be in line with The Package Free Larder’s ethos, tell us about yourself here.
We are so grateful to everyone – individuals and local businesses – who provided us with special rewards for the campaign. We’d also like to acknowledge those who allowed us to host events, stalls & meetings over the past few months. We are so proud of this community’s willingness to support an idea that will make Portsmouth a less polluting, and more sustainable city.
And finally, a massive thank you to Agni, Ashleigh, Connie, Ella, Esther, Katy, Lynda, Miquel, Patricija and Regine for your dedication and your hard work during the crowdfunding campaign.
